Foreign and local
chorale groups come together for an evening of music, a potent
instrument for world peace
The recently concluded International Choral Festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) highlighted not just world class, quality music but also the resounding message of unity that cuts across ethnicity and social distinction.
With the participation of four international choirs and some of the country's distinguished choral groups, the festival featured a mixed variety of music that enthralled the audience who included National Artist Lucrecia Kasilag and Philippine Madrigal Singers founder Andrea Veneracion.
The foreign participating choirs were the Chorus Sine Nomine (Austria), Earth Choir (Taiwan), Hamrahlid Choir (Iceland) and the Pilgrim Mission Choir (Korea).
Some of the local groups who participated were the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Singers, San Beda College Chorale, University of San Agustin Troubadours, Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music Chorale (AILM), Himig Sanghaya Chorale of Laguna, and the Philippine Madrigal Singers. (more...)
